For Palestinians, Wednesday marks the solemn anniversary known as the “Nakba,” signifying the catastrophic mass displacement of over 700,000 people in 1948 upon Israel’s formation. This year, they also reflect on what some term a “second Nakba” – the current devastating conflict in Gaza, described as one of the bloodiest chapters in their history.
Gaza Conflict: A Humanitarian Crisis
Since Gaza’s Hamas provoked the conflict with attacks in October, over 35,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israel’s retaliatory offensive, with 1.7 million displaced. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is resolute in his stance to eliminate Hamas, hinting at a potential ground offensive in Rafah.
