Changing Stance on Cease-Fire
Senator Baldwin, who initially believed that Hamas would not agree to a cease-fire, has now called for an end to the violence in the Israel-Palestine conflict. She criticized Israel’s “indiscriminate bombing and military approach” and expressed concern over the high level of bloodshed.
Meeting with Activist Groups
Baldwin met with representatives from World Beyond War, Jewish Voice for Peace, and the Madison Rafah Sister City Project to discuss the ongoing conflict. World Beyond War, a global movement advocating for the abolition of war, has been pressuring Baldwin to support a cease-fire.
Escalating Crisis
The conflict has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with tens of thousands of Gazans killed or wounded, and 1.7 million people displaced. The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, described Gaza as a “graveyard for children.”
Calls for Immediate Action
In response to the counterattack launched by Israel after Hamas attacked innocent Israelis, World Beyond War called for an immediate cease-fire. The group also criticized the international community for supplying weapons to Israel and applauded Senator Baldwin’s decision to take a stand.
Previous Actions by World Beyond War
In December, World Beyond War staged a “blockade” of a Canadian arms manufacturer that provides weapons to Israel. The organization believes that arms support and funding from governments contribute to the ongoing occupation of Palestine.
As of now, Senator Baldwin has not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for a comment on the matter.
