Recovery and Resumed Duties
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted earlier in the week. The Pentagon confirmed that he is recovering well and has resumed his full functions and duties.
Medical Procedure and Cancelled Trip
Austin underwent a non-surgical procedure for an “emergent bladder issue” under general anesthesia. This led to the cancellation of his planned trip to Brussels. The medical episode was a result of a December surgery related to prostate cancer.
Positive Prognosis
The Pentagon assured that Austin’s recent procedure will not impact his excellent cancer prognosis. This marks his third hospitalization since his prostate cancer diagnosis in December.
