Authorities Discover Deception
Scottville, Mich. – A 21-year-old man from Tennessee attempted to enroll at a high school in Michigan after connecting with a minor online, as revealed by authorities.
A vigilant staff member at Mason County Central High School in Scottville raised concerns and alerted a sheriff’s deputy. Upon further investigation on Tuesday, it was uncovered that the individual was not a teenager as he claimed.
The man, hailing from Fort Campbell, Tennessee, faced charges for using a computer to commit a crime along with other offenses.
Sheriff Issues Warning
Sheriff Kim Cole emphasized, “I would strongly encourage parents to have conversations with their children about the dangers of online chatting and the sharing of information over the internet or social media platforms.”
The high school in question is located in Scottville, northern Michigan, approximately 100 miles north of Grand Rapids.
