Key Test Delayed
JAXA postponed the launch of the H3 series rocket due to predicted thunder and strong wind at the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. The launch, initially planned for Thursday, aims to rectify the failed debut flight of the rocket last year.
Second Chance for Success
The upcoming test flight will carry a mockup of the ALOS satellite and two observation microsatellites. JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have addressed past issues and are determined to ensure the rocket’s success this time around.
Competitive Edge in Space Exploration
The H3 rocket, developed at a cost of $1.5 billion, is Japan’s first new series in over two decades. With larger payload capacity and reduced launch costs compared to the H-2A, it aims to compete globally. Success with the H3 rocket could elevate Japan’s status in the space race.
