Former Vice President’s Son Discusses Vulnerability and Resilience in Memoir
During a recent podcast interview, Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, spoke candidly about his struggles with addiction and the impact of political attacks on his life. Co-host Lindsay Hicks praised Biden for his openness in his memoir, highlighting the “real beauty” in his vulnerability. She noted that his story could inspire others to shed shame and embrace their own truths.
Biden responded with determination, stating that he refuses to let those who target him use his experiences to stigmatize and discredit the recovery community. “I am not going to let these motherf—-ers use me as just another example of why people in recovery are never going to be okay, never to be trusted, they’re all degenerates,” he asserted passionately.
Targeting Hunter: Addiction and Inflicting Hurt
Supporting Hicks’ perspective, Biden agreed that those who target him, particularly Republicans, are often motivated by their own unresolved pain. He empathized with individuals like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar, suggesting that they have experienced their own suffering and anguish, which manifests in harmful behaviors.
However, Biden made it clear that this understanding does not absolve these individuals of their actions. “They’re suffering people. And that doesn’t excuse the things that they have done to others and to me,” he emphasized.
He also revealed a disturbing belief that those going after him have a deeper motive: to end his life and ultimately hurt his father’s presidency. Biden asserted, “They are trying to destroy a presidency. And so, it’s not about me. In their most base way, what they’re trying to do is they’re trying to kill me, knowing that it will be a pain greater than my father could be able to handle.”
“Sad” and “Sick” Individuals
Biden characterized his attackers as “sad” and “very, very sick people” who have chosen to turn their own traumas into evil actions inflicted on others. While acknowledging the underlying sickness in the country, he placed blame on former President Donald Trump for giving voice to rage and normalizing its expression.
Addressing Corruption Claims
Biden dismissed the notion of the “Biden Crime Family,” sarcastically pointing out the decades of transparency his family has maintained in the public eye. He highlighted his father’s long career in politics, extensive release of tax returns, and multiple presidential campaigns as evidence against any claims of corruption.
He further mocked the timing of these accusations, suggesting that it took Donald Trump’s involvement for the idea of a criminal enterprise to emerge. “It took until, oh, low and behold, Donald Trump figured out that somehow this is a criminal enterprise,” he quipped.
It is important to note that on Thursday, Hunter Biden was indicted in California on nine federal charges related to alleged tax evasion.
