Critics Blast Bowser’s Metro Comments
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is facing criticism after displaying a lack of knowledge about the city’s Metro system. The incident occurred during a discussion about the new Potomac Yards Metro station in Alexandria, Virginia, near the proposed site of an arena for local sports teams.
Confusion Over Metro Lines
During the conversation, Bowser struggled to identify which Metro lines served the current venue, Gallery Place. She asked for clarification from others in the room, appearing confused when they mentioned the blue and yellow lines. Eventually, Bowser mentioned the correct lines that run to Gallery Place – red, blue, orange, and yellow – but also included the green line, which does not serve the station.
Social Media Backlash
Critics, including individuals from both political parties, quickly took to social media to express their disappointment in Bowser’s lack of Metro knowledge. Some called her comments embarrassing, while others questioned if she had ever ridden the Metro. The public figures criticized Bowser’s leadership and raised concerns about her understanding of the city’s transportation system.
Teams to Move to Alexandria
The incident comes as the news broke that both sports teams would be relocating from DC to a new $2 billion entertainment complex in Alexandria. The move aims to provide a world-class venue for the teams. However, reports suggest financial difficulties may have influenced this decision, with the teams’ owner burdened by a $36 million payment on the proposed site.
Mayor’s Office Yet to Respond
As criticism mounts, Bowser’s office has yet to respond to the situation. Fox News Digital reached out for comment but has not received a statement from the mayor at this time.
