Biden condemns rise of antisemitism during Israel-Hamas conflict
During a White House gathering, President Biden condemned the rise of antisemitism that occurred during the recent Israel-Hamas conflict. In front of Jewish lawmakers and other attendees, he expressed his deep concern over the silence and inaction of those who failed to speak out against antisemitism.
Biden reiterated his longstanding support for Israel and recalled the criticism he faced years ago for stating that one does not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. He reaffirmed his commitment to the country and its security.
Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas began after the terrorist group launched an attack on Israeli civilians, resulting in numerous casualties. While Israel has faced international condemnation for the high numbers of casualties in its counterattacks, the Biden administration has consistently supported Israel’s right to self-defense.
The President acknowledged that there is still much work to be done in achieving peace and stability in the region. With a focus on Israel’s security, Biden emphasized the need for a two-state solution and called on Netanyahu to take bold action.
