Family Legacy and Limited Playing Time
The highly anticipated College Football Playoff semifinal game between Texas and the second-ranked team is just around the corner. As the Longhorns prepare for the big game, freshman quarterback Arch Manning has broken his silence on rumors of a potential transfer.
Focused on Developing and Helping the Team
Despite limited playing time as a backup quarterback, Manning is determined to stay committed to the University of Texas. Dismissing the transfer rumors, Manning expressed his dedication to developing as a player and assisting the team in any way he can.
“I haven’t looked into transferring at all. I’m just focused on developing and helping this team in any way I can, and, hopefully, one day playing for the University of Texas like I always wanted to,” Manning clarified during a media session.
Preparation and Mindset
Born in Louisiana and having played high school football in New Orleans, Manning is preparing diligently for the upcoming game, aware that he may not be the starting quarterback. Despite this, he approaches each week as if he were the starter, ensuring he is mentally prepared for any opportunity that may arise.
“A lot of it is mental just because you’re watching. You’ve got to get mental reps and just trying to prepare like you’re the starter because there’s a good chance you play. There’s also a good chance you don’t play. But, at the end of the day, it’s just football, going out there, doing what I’ve done my whole life. So, that’s what I’m trying to do,” Manning shared.
First Field Appearance and Future Aspirations
Manning’s first field appearance for the Longhorns came in a regular-season game against Texas Tech in November. Reflecting on the experience, Manning admitted that it felt good to be back on the field after a year and acknowledged the loud atmosphere. He emphasized the importance of avoiding pre-snap penalties and expressed his eagerness to make a lasting impact.
Looking ahead, Manning remains dedicated to his journey at the University of Texas and hopes to contribute to the team’s success in the future.
