Patrick also mentioned that he is currently planning a memorial and celebration of life for his father, scheduled for late January. The event will be a tribute to O’Neal’s family, his love of boxing, and his remarkable career as an actor.
Patrick expressed the challenges he faces in planning the event, as his father had an extensive collection of photographs, with approximately 3 million photos taken and 700 thousand saved. Nevertheless, he assured that everyone who should be there will be present, promising an amazing and unforgettable tribute.
Understanding Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy, listed as an underlying cause of O’Neal’s death, is a condition that affects the heart muscle. It can make it difficult for the heart to effectively pump blood, leading to various complications. This common condition, as reported by the National Institute of Health, can have severe consequences for individuals.
A Life Well-Lived and Remembered
O’Neal was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary on December 20. His passing comes after a battle with prostate cancer, which was diagnosed in 2012, roughly a decade after his initial chronic leukemia diagnosis.
Survived by four children and five grandchildren, O’Neal’s personal life was also marked by his relationship with Farrah Fawcett. The two were life partners from 1979 to 1999, before rekindling their connection in 2001 until Fawcett’s own tragic death in 2009 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
