Prayers and Support for Hayley Erbert’s Recovery
Derek Hough, judge and alum of the hit show, Dancing with the Stars, shared an update on his wife’s health. He revealed that Hayley Erbert underwent surgery this morning to replace a large portion of her skull that was previously removed during a craniectomy.
Hough expressed his belief in the power of prayer, stating that the “intention and love” sent by well-wishers have greatly contributed to Erbert’s recovery. He urged fans to continue keeping her in their prayers, emphasizing the impact of collective energy on her medical journey.
The Importance of Skull Implant Surgery
Last week, Hough informed his followers that his wife would require skull implant surgery as part of her treatment. This procedure aims to restore the skull to its natural shape and provide protection to the brain.
Erbert has been battling a severe health condition, making this journey particularly challenging for the couple. Hough’s latest update included a video of the pair walking together, with Erbert wearing a helmet following the surgery.
A Medical Emergency and the Road to Recovery
The need for this surgery arose after Erbert became disoriented following a performance on December 7. She was subsequently diagnosed with a cranial hematoma caused by a burst blood vessel, requiring an emergency craniectomy.
According to the Mayo Clinic, an intracranial hematoma refers to the accumulation of blood within the skull, often resulting from a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.
Hough previously praised his wife’s strength and resilience in the face of adversity. He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and love that they have received during this challenging time.
The couple now embarks on the long road to recovery, with Hough by Erbert’s side every step of the way.
