FAA and United Airlines Launch Investigation
An alarming incident occurred during a recent flight chartered by the Colorado Rockies baseball team, where an unauthorized individual was discovered in the pilot’s seat. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United Airlines have initiated investigations into this breach of safety protocols.
United Airlines has taken swift action in response to the incident, removing at least two pilots from duty. The disturbing video, captured on April 10 during a flight from Denver to Toronto, shows the unauthorized person in the flight deck while the autopilot was engaged.
“We’re deeply disturbed by what we see in that video,” United Airlines stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the violation of safety and operational policies. The airline has reported the incident to the FAA and suspended the pilots pending further investigation.
The FAA, responsible for ensuring aviation safety, has also launched its own inquiry into the matter. “Federal regulations restrict flight deck access to specific individuals,” the FAA highlighted, underscoring the stringent security measures in place.
CNN has contacted the Colorado Rockies for their response to the incident. The news network’s reporters, Amanda Jackson and Jacob Lev, contributed to this report.
