Dolly Parton Extends Grace to Elle King
Country music legend Dolly Parton has expressed forgiveness towards singer Elle King for her expletive-filled performance at the Grand Ole Opry last month. King, who appeared intoxicated during the show, forgot lyrics and cursed onstage during a tribute for Parton’s birthday.
“She’s a great girl, and she’s been going through a lotta hard things lately,” Parton told Extra in an interview, defending King as a talented artist. Parton urged fans to show compassion towards King, who admitted to being drunk during the show.
Opry’s Response and King’s Struggles
The Grand Ole Opry issued an apology for the incident, expressing regret for the explicit language used during King’s performance. This comes after King had previously shared her battles with substance abuse and depression while promoting her album “Shake the Spirit” in 2018.
