Pollard Unaware of Quinn’s New Role
During a recent interview, it was revealed that Dallas Cowboys player, Tony Pollard, had no idea that his former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, had taken on a new head coaching role with the Washington Commanders. Pollard admitted that he had been off social media and was unaware of the recent news.
Pollard Praises Quinn’s Ability
Although caught off guard, Pollard expressed his confidence in Quinn’s abilities as a coach. He believes that Quinn has a knack for getting the best out of his players and has no doubt that he will excel in his new position, even if it is with a rival team in the NFC East.
Quinn’s Previous Experience
Prior to joining the Commanders, Quinn served as the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-2019. He led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2017, but unfortunately, the Falcons lost in overtime after blowing a 28-9 lead. Quinn’s overall record with the Falcons was 43-42.
Commanders’ Expectations for Quinn
Quinn’s situation in Washington is vastly different from his time with the Cowboys. The Commanders had a disappointing 4-13 record in the previous season and are looking to turn things around. The team’s new ownership group, led by Josh Harris, has tasked Quinn with transforming the Commanders into a playoff contender in the challenging NFC East division.
Opportunity for Quinn to Make an Impact
Quinn has been given valuable assets to work with, including the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and nearly $74 million in cap space. These resources could allow him to acquire impact players that can contribute immediately. Additionally, Quinn has brought on Kliff Kingsbury as the team’s new offensive coordinator.
Pollard’s Future Outlook
Looking ahead, Pollard realizes the importance of staying informed about offseason news and potential additions to the team. As the Commanders head into the upcoming season, Pollard will now face off against Quinn’s defense on game days, a challenge he is ready to embrace.
