Injuries Plague Lawrence
Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been dealing with multiple injuries in recent weeks, and a sprained shoulder has kept him out of practice all this week. As a result, Lawrence has been officially ruled out for the upcoming game.
C.J. Beathard to Step In
With Lawrence sidelined, backup quarterback C.J. Beathard will take over the starting quarterback duties on Sunday. This will mark Beathard’s first start in nearly three years.
Jaguars’ Struggle
The Jaguars are hoping to end a four-game losing streak and maintain their position as the leaders in the AFC South. A victory combined with losses by Houston and Indianapolis would allow Jacksonville to clinch the division.
Lackluster Performance and Injuries
Lawrence sprained his AC joint during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite his injury, he continued to play but was ineffective, throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble. These turnovers contributed to the Jaguars’ 30-0 deficit. Lawrence’s performance was so poor that he expressed frustration, stating, “it looks like we don’t even practice.”
Season of Setbacks
This is not the first setback Lawrence has experienced this season. He has been plagued by turnovers, a weak offensive line, and injuries to key receivers. In the past three games alone, he has committed eight turnovers, bringing his total for the season to 19.
First Game Missed Due to Injury
This will be the first game Lawrence has missed due to injury at any level of play. Throughout his career, he never missed a start in high school and only missed two starts in college due to COVID-19 protocols.
