Newark, N.J. – In a shocking turn of events, a woman has been arrested and charged after two nurses and a medical resident were stabbed inside a pediatric intensive care unit in New Jersey. The incident occurred on Friday morning at Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, causing panic and chaos in the facility.
Domestic Dispute Triggers Violence
The violent episode unfolded around 7 a.m. when a “domestic dispute” between two visitors escalated rapidly, according to a statement released by the hospital on social media. The dispute took place in the pediatric intensive care unit, leading to a vicious attack on the hospital workers.
Perpetrator Apprehended, Workers in Stable Condition
The suspect, identified as Firdousi Abdul-Hakim, 37, allegedly targeted the nurses and the medical resident, inflicting cuts on them. Thankfully, the injured staff members are currently in stable condition, ensuring they receive necessary medical care.
The prompt response from Newark’s public safety director, Fritz Fragé, led to the immediate arrest of Abdul-Hakim. She now faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
