MSU Coach Tom Izzo provides update on player’s condition
In a statement released on Saturday, Michigan State University (MSU) coach Tom Izzo confirmed that one of his players, Jeremy Fears, underwent surgery after being injured in a shooting. Coach Izzo expressed his support for Fears’ recovery and emphasized that there is still much unknown about the incident.
Authorities reveal details of the shooting
The shooting took place either late Friday night or early Saturday morning, resulting in injuries to an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old woman. The male victim was wounded in the thigh, while the woman suffered a wound to the pelvis. Both victims were inside a home with friends when an unidentified gunman entered and began firing shots. It remains unclear whether the victims were the intended targets.
Suspect still at large
Police have not yet identified the suspect and continue to search for them. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Player’s background and career
Jeremy Fears, a highly regarded 18-year-old basketball player, was a McDonald’s All-American and a five-star recruit. He has been a key player for MSU, appearing in all 12 games this season. Fears had a career-high 10 assists off the bench in the team’s recent game against Stony Brook.
Michigan State University’s basketball team will have several days off before their next game against Indiana State on December 30th.
